Qatargas, RasGas Host Engineering Forum in Doha

Qatargas and RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) recently jointly hosted the eighth annual Engineering Forum at the Intercontinental Hotel in Doha.

The Forum, which brings together engineering experts from oil and gas companies, academia and the private sector, is an important opportunity to share technical expertise, discuss latest developments and highlight best practice activities underway in Qatar.

It also provides networking opportunities for professionals in the engineering field.

Dean King, Qatargas Engineering Manager, kicked off the event and welcomed all the participants, with RasGas’ Operations Technical Manager, Ahmad Al Mohannadi, delivering the key note address.

In his opening address, Dean King said: “After seven years of hosting this Forum, we are delighted for the first time this year to welcome RasGas as a co-host at this year’s Engineering Forum. This is yet another example of synergies between the two companies, adding value to our initiatives aimed at creating opportunities to facilitate knowledge sharing and promoting engineering expertise. The high number of participants and presentations at this year’s event is very encouraging.

During his key note address, Hamad Mubarak Al Muhannadi, RasGas’ Operations Group Manager, underlined the importance of knowledge sharing, he said: “RasGas has an excellent track record of successfully planning and executing major gas projects, and we advocate the adoption of best practices and the transference of knowledge and expertise. The 8th Engineering Forum which we are hosting in partnership with Qatargas, is a prime example of our commitment in this area as we continue to strive for sustainability and reliability.

Due to the increased interest in the event and the large number of presentations being made, this year’s Forum was split into three sessions – Automation and Control, Reliability and Integrity and Projects. The presentations covered a wide range to topics in each of these areas. A total of 21 presentations were made – seven in each session. In addition to Qatargas and RasGas, presentations were also made by Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil, Total, Shell and ConocoPhillips.
Nearly 240 people attended the day-long event.
