QP CEO: Qatar to build on over 2,500 LNG deliveries to Japan

Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, president and CEO of Qatar Petroleum and chairman of Qatargas concluded his talks with major Japanese energy companies aiming to strengthen existing cooperation. 

Speaking during the meeting in Japan, Al-Kaabi noted that since the start of cooperation in 1997, Qatar delivered more than 2,500 cargoes of liquefied natural gas to Japanese customers.

According to the company’s statement, Qatar Petroleum is looking to enhance the existing cooperation with its Japanese customers, as new volumes from Australia and the United States increase pressure on Qatar’s spot as the world’s largest LNG exporter.

Al-Kaabi held talks with Chubu Electric, Jera, Mitsui, Chiyoda Corporation, Idemitsu, Cosmo Oil, LNG Japan, Mitsui & Co., Marubeni Corporation, and Itochu, focusing on boosting future cooperation in the LNG trade.

Meetings were also held with Bank of Tokyo – Mitsubishi UFJ and Japan Bank for International Cooperation and utility companies such as Tokyo Electric, Kansai Electric, and Tohoku Electric as well as major shipping lines such as NYK Line, MOL, K Line and Iino.
