Report: Hokkaido Gas inks LNG deal

Hokkaido Gas has reportedly signed a deal to purchase about 100,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas per annum between 2016 and 2018.

According to a report by Reuters, the supply will be sourced from an undisclosed resource company that procures gas from multiple overseas gas fields.

The non-binding deal would cater to a second LNG tank at Hokkaido’s Ishikari import terminal set to start operations in September 2016, the report said.

Hokkaido Gas already receives about 300,000 to 400,000 tonnes of LNG under an 11-year contract it has with Tokyo Gas.

The LNG supplies, sourced from Russia and Australia, have started in 2012.
