Report: Murphy Oil takes PV Drilling jack-up on one-month deal

U.S. oil company Murphy Oil has reportedly hired one of PV Drilling’s offshore rigs on a one-month firm deal.

According to VesselsValue (VV), Murphy Oil hired the PV Drilling III jack-up rig for an undisclosed dayrate.

Data from VV indicates that the Keppel FELS B class jack-up rig was contracted last Friday, September 15. The one-month contract for the jack-up rig will begin on November 3 and end on December 2.

Latest AIS data places the rig in the Gulf of Thailand in the Pacific Ocean near the city of Vung Tau, Vietnam.

PV Drilling III is capable of operating in water depths up to 400 feet and can obtain a maximum drilling depth up to 30,000 feet. The independent leg, cantilever, jack-up was built in 2009 and can accommodate 110 persons.

The PV Drilling III was delivered to PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Service Corporation in the fourth quarter of 2009.
