RETN Taps Aqua Comms’ AEConnect to Deliver Transatlantic Connectivity

RETN, a provider of international data transmission services, has partnered with Aqua Comms, the operator of Ireland’s first dedicated subsea fibre-optic network interconnecting New York, Dublin and London, to deliver transatlantic capacity on Aqua Comms’ America-Europe Connect (AEConnect) subsea cable system.

This cooperation enables RETN to obtain additional route diversity and expand its cross-border network to North America.

“Aqua Comms is pleased that RETN has selected AEConnect, our next-generation fibre-optic cable system, to provide transatlantic connectivity for the company’s backbone network,” states Nigel Bayliff, chief executive officer of Aqua Comms.

Offering diversity between two of the major international hubs, this highly secure and technologically advanced transatlantic system is also future-proofed against increased capacity requirements, a demand that only AEConnect, and not legacy systems, can satisfy.”

“The integration of Aqua Comms’ AEConnect cable in our backbone allowed us to establish new low latency connectivity between New York and London, and thus significantly expand our network’s reach while ensuring the scalability and high performance necessary to meet our own business objectives as well as our clients’ needs,” comments Tony O’Sullivan, chief operating officer at RETN. “Working with Aqua Comms has been a revelation in terms of delivery times and flexibility. RETN prides itself on its ability to turn up services in previously unheard of timeframes and in Aqua Comms we have found a transatlantic partner that can match us. This has allowed us to match our customer guarantees on both sides of the Atlantic.”
