Retry of Sabella’s D10 Cable Connection

After a delay in making a final cable connection of the D10 tidal turbine off Ushant island, Sabella announced that it will retry the connection next week.

Last time the company had to suspend the operation due to incompatibility of MV Palembang vessel to make the connection.

To avoid the equipment damage Sabella decided to look for more suitable vessel and it’s now in talks with Bourbon to use Argonaut tugboat to make a connection between cable jumper and the export cable.

The work on the connection will  take place between July 23 and 27, and it is expected to last for 2-4 days.

The crew of 30 people will be onboard the vessel during operation, with 5-10 more people providing onshore assistance.

Once the cable connection is completed, the D10 tidal turbine will start producing electricity which will not be fed to the Ushant island’s grid until September, when the grid-connection is expected to be completed.
