RID Official Visits Chai Nat Dredging Project

The Director General of the Royal Irrigation Department, Lertwiroj Gowattana, has visited Chai Nat to inspect canal dredging operations aimed at creating more water storage areas in the province.

The dredging operations are being conducted around two areas of swamp land in Han Kha District. Officials are also overseeing the digging of smaller canals around the swamps to facilitate the distribution of water to farmlands.

Mr. Lertwiroj said that these operations are part of the government’s anti-drought policy providing urgent assistance to farmers affected by recent severe drought conditions.

His visit to the province is expected to speed up the dredging process, and ensure ready access to water for victims of the drought.

The operations will increase the water-storing capacity of the two swamps in Han Kha District, in preparation for the rainy season which is expected to arrive in August.
