Rowan Wins Contracts for Two Jack-Up Rigs

Rowan Companies, a Houston-headquartered drilling contractor, has secured contracts for two of its jack-up rigs.

The company announced yesterday that its Gorilla III jack-up rig has been awarded a multi-well contract  in Trinidad with a rig share group that includes EOG, Trinity Exploration, Repsol and Centrica estimated at one year. The contract will start mid-October 2013 at $160,000 per day, above its previous day rate of $145,000. The rig share group has the option to extend the contract for a number of wells to be specified in the notice of option exercise. Also, the company said that the rig is expected to be off rate in 1Q2014 for repairs and inspections.

Also, Rowan Louisiana rig has secured a one-well contract for EnVen estimated at 30 days starting in October 2013 in the Gulf of Mexico at $95,000 per day (no change from previous day rate) and another one-well contract estimated at 45 days at $125,000 per day.
