Russia: BFC Takes Delivery of Oil Tanker Ksenia

Baltic Fuel Company has taken delivery of the fourth tanker vessel in a series of non-self-propelled oil tankers of 2734 Project named Ksenia. Construction of the series at Baltic Shipyard was launched in January 2011, under a contract signed in November 2010.

Order for construction of a series of tankers was funded with the assistance of a permanent financial partner of BFC – Bank Saint-Petersburg. Investments in the newbuildings construction totaled some RUB 400 million. The project was designed by Marine Engineering Bureau LLC.

The tanker is designed for transportation of oil products with flash point of 60 Cº and above, including those requiring heating. BFC will put into operation the new vessel in July this year. The tanker will be engaged in transportation of oil products on Russia’s inland waterways.

Tanker Ksenia, as well as all the ships of the series, is equipped with a double bottom and double sides. The vessel’s capacity – 5000 tons, length – 108.32 m, breadth – 16.86 m, depth – 4.75 m. The main method of steering the ship is pushing, an additional – towing.

Baltic Fuel Company is considering an option to resume its shipbuilding project the next year. According to BFC General Director Stanislav Korneev, to strengthen the Group’s position on the inland waterways the company needs about six or seven new tankers, each of capacity of 5,000 tons. BFC has not chosen so far a shipbuilding yard.
