Russia: Engineering Graduates Highly Sought After

Engineering Graduates Highly Sought After

A solemn conferring of degrees ceremony was held at the Pushkin Theater of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), based in Vladivostok, Russia. One of the largest FEFU schools – the Engineering school – produced as much as 1,100 graduates this year.

Outstanding graduates of Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Systems Engineering and Offshore Engineering Department got job offers right away during the commencement ceremony.

“Our folks are highly sought after in the Primorye and other Russian regional labor markets. I wish each of you to find yourselves and successfully realize every goal you have set for yourselves. May success, well-being and most importantly good health shine upon you,” Igor Soppa, Provost, said at the commencement ceremony.

“We all know that engineering is a hard major but you managed to get through it with flying colors and earned your degrees. For many of you, it is the first rung on your career ladder, and you showed your preparedness to handle engineering tasks at work by having gone over it,Marina Kascheeva, Head of Training and Development in HR Division for FESRC, addressed the graduates. “As shipbuilding develops in the Russian Far East, in Primorye, you, as professionals, are demanded by the industry and new shipyard. I would like to present the honor students with written job offers for positions within our companies.”

“The Eastern Institute of Vladivostok first offered a curriculum in naval architecture back in 1918. These days, professors of the FEFU Engineering School continue to train new generations of naval architects. Shipbuilding had its hard times in the last few decades but now everything has changed. The government supports shipbuilding development projects. I am envious of your good fortune. The graduates of naval architecture have an excellent future. If, in the past, there were no jobs for engineers and most of our folks didn’t practice their specialties now it is one of the most in-demand careers,” Valery Petukhov, Associate Dean for Development in the Engineering School at the FEFU, remarked. “Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center offers jobs – it acknowledges that quality of our education is OK.”

“You acquire the perspective of having gained valuable experience for your entire life only after graduation. When you encounter a challenge you spot it right away and find the right solution. I obtained all these traits through studying at the Engineering School. I consider my professors as the best. They explained everything in plain language and put a lot of heart into the courses,” graduate Alexey Chepiga shared his thoughts.

For the second year running, outstanding students with major in naval architecture have been granted personalized job offers from FESRC. The companies of Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center already have a number of previous years’ graduates successful on their jobs. FESRC and FEFU partnered through an agreement signed by then-President Vladimir Miklushevski.
