Russia, Iran Talk of Increasing Energy Cooperation

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak says his country is in talks with Iran for increasing energy cooperation with a view to raising trade exchanges.

“Last year, the 10th session of the intergovernmental commission was held in Moscow. The parties discussed different variants to increase trade turnover,” Novak said, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

He added that both parties considered Russia’s participation in constructing power plants in Iran and developing hydrocarbon deposits.

“We seek to increase trade turnover and expand the presence of our companies in the Iranian market,” the minister stated.

“This will give a possibility to develop and restore our trade. Thus, this issue is pressing,” he said.
