Russia, Serbia Ink Gas Deal

Russian and Serbian energy ministers Alexander Novak and Zorana Mihajlovic have signed an intergovernmental agreement in Belgrade on Russian natural gas supplies to Serbia. The agreement covers the period from 2012 to 2021.

The document envisions annual supplies of up to 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Serbia. Based on the agreement, negotiations are ongoing on the long-term commercial contracts stipulating the volumes, terms and conditions of Russian blue fuel shipment.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of the Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, who noted that by signing the agreement Serbia had secured long-term natural gas supplies and strengthened its energy security. Alexander Novak emphasized that Serbia and Russia continue to foster “friendly and economy-focused dynamic relations”.
