Russia - Vyborg Shipyard Lays Keel for Icebreaker of Project 21900М

Vyborg Shipyard has begun construction of the next Icebreaker of project 21900М. The keel-laying ceremony for 16 MW diesel-powered Icebreaker was held ahead of schedule today on December 12th 2012. The vessel is being built by the order of Federal agency of marine and river transport.

According to schedule three Icebreakers shall be delivered to the Customer within the period from May till October 2015.

Icebreaker of project 21900М is a two-decker of unrestricted navigation with two full-revolving rudder propellers and bow thruster. Displacement about 10 000 t. Length 116 m, width 26,5 m. Icebreaking capability up to 1.5 m.
