Russian giant Gazprom on Monday said its daily supplies of natural gas to Europe have hit record highs.

According to the company’s statement, the export volumes to Europe were up in a number of consecutive days reaching 590 bcm on October 21.

Gazprom’s head Alexey Miller stressed that this indicates that new transit routes for Russian gas to Europe such as the Nord Stream 2 and the TurkStream project, are a necessity.

Miller added that Russian gas is still a “highly sought energy source on the European market.”

Record exports come following the company’s recent comments that in the European market “U.S. LNG was losing” against the company’s pipeline gas deliveries.

The company stressed that sees no threat from U.S. LNG supplies coming to the European market.
