Russian Navy Commissions Research Vessel Seliger

The trial vessel of Project 11982 Research ship Seliger, built by JSC Yantar Shipyard, has been commissioned to the Main Office of Deepwater Research of the Russian Defence Ministry. Following successful sea trials, the Russian naval ensign was hoisted on RV Seliger, Dec 25th.

RV Seliger, designed by the Central Marine Design Bureau “Almaz”, is the first out of two similar vessels that will be built for the Russian Navy. The contract for the construction of these vessels of Project 11982 and Project 22010, worth RUB 7 bln (approx $ 222.7 mln), was signed between Yantar Shipyard and the Defense Ministry in February 2009.
