Russian gas giant Gazprom said on Wednesday it had resumed natural gas supplies to Azerbaijan.

Gazprom Export, a unit of Gazprom, and the Azeri state energy firm SOCAR reached an agreement under which gas supplies were to start on November 22, according to a Gazprom statement.

Gazprom will deliver a total of 1.6 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to Azerbaijan under contract.

“We have a long history of partnership with Azerbaijan in the field of natural gas trading. It is encouraging to see this relationship flourish and move to the next level,” said Elena Burmistrova, Director General of Gazprom Export.
