The talks, in the Russian city of Vladivostok, were held in two separate meetings.

The first meeting was held between Gazprom head Alexei Miller and chief executive of Itochu, Yoshihisa Suzuki, while in the second meeting Miller met with Hidenori Takaoka, chief executive of the energy business of Mitsubishi.

At the Itochu meeting, the two officials addressed potential cooperation in the LNG sector, including the localization of production and services in Russia in order to maximize the involvement of Russian businesses in new Gazprom’s LNG projects, according to a statement by the Russian giant.

During the meeting between Miller and Takaoka, the two executives addressed the current status of the Sakhalin II project, discussing the construction of the third train of Russia’s Sakhalin LNG plant, Gazprom said in a separate statement.
