SBM Offshore resurrects COO role

SBM Offshore has announced the appointment of Philippe Barril as Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective March 1, 2015.

With this move, the company is reintroducing the position of COO in the company. To remind, in 2013 SBM dismissed its COO, Jean-Philippe Laures. At the time, the company did not make further comments regarding the circumstances that lead to the dismissal. However, according to De Telegraaf, Laures was seen as the evil genius behind a fraud case in Africa.

According to the company’s press release, Barril’s appointment as a member of the Management Board is subject to approval at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders to be held on April 15, 2015.
