Scottish oil worker found dead on Transocean Rather rig in Malaysia

An oil worker has been found dead on an offshore oil rig in Malaysia.

According to The Scotsman, the worker, of Scottish nationality, was found by his colleagues on the Transocean Rather semi-submersible drilling rig.

Transocean has confirmed the fatality to the Scottish media, and said it had launched an internal investigation into the circumstances which lead to the worker’s death.

The worker, Ross Flett, 35,  from Buckie, Moray, worked as a ballast control operator at Transocean.

In a statement given to The Scotsman, the drilling contractor said that the fatality occurred around 9 a.m. Malaysian time on April 13.
