T-16 Tender Rig Ready for Chevron Contract in Thailand

Seadrill, one of the world’s largest drilling contractors has taken delivery of the T-16 tender rig from the China’s COSCO Nantong shipyard.

The T-16 rig will, this month, start contract with Chevron in the Gulf of Thailand. The rig, capable of operating in water depths of up to 6,500 feet will stay with Chevron until June, 2018, on a day rate of $115.000.

Seadrill, on April 30, 2012 completed the sale of 18 tender rigs to Malaysia’s provider of oilfield services SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd. for a total consideration of US$2.9 billion on April 30, 2013.

The company said it would use proceeds from the transaction to grow both the ultra-deepwater and jack-up segments of the company.
