Seafarer Medevaced from Tanker off Texas

A seafarer was medevaced from the crude oil tanker AST Sunshine while the ship was off Galveston, Texas, on April 4.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a report from the chief engineer of the 159,000 dwt vessel that a crewmember aboard required medical assistance.

A response boat crew arrived on scene and transferred the seafarer to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Coast Guard Station Galveston.

The sailor was reported to be in stable condition.

According to AIS data provided by Marine Traffic, the 2013-built tanker is currently moored at the Houston Anchorage, where it arrived in the afternoon hours of April 3.
