Seven UXOs Found at Race Bank OWF Site

DONG Energy has reported seven unexploded ordnance (UXO) at the site of its Race Bank offshore wind farm project.

According to the local media reports, the UXOs were found on The Wash seabed.

The UXOs were discovered during the pre-construction survey between Skegness and the Walpole substation.

DONG Energy’s spokesperson was quoted by the local media saying: “Following approved procedures, confirmed UXOs are marked with buoys and then, subject to permission being granted by the Marine Management Organisation, they will be safely detonated by a specialist contractor.”

With a potential maximum capacity of up to 580MW, Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm could generate enough electricity to power 400,000 UK homes per year. NKT will supply 150km of export cables for this project, while the UK-based JDR will deliver 110 kilometres of 36 kV inter-array cables and provide offshore testing and termination services.
