Singapore LNG Project More Than 98 Percent Complete

Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG), which is building the country’s first LNG terminal, said in a project update published on its website that as of end December 2012, construction of the LNG terminal is over 98% completed.

Work on the LNG storage tanks have progressed well and on schedule. Tank 1 has been boxed up and nitrogen purged; while Tank 2 is undergoing nitrogen purging in readiness for start-up. The installation of Tank 3’s 9% Ni steel LNG inner containment tank has been completed and installation of pump wells is in progress, Singapore LNG said.

Additional labour has been brought in for completion of instrumentation and cryogenic insulation. Bulk piping erection is essentially completed except for Sea Water intake.

Dredging works for the Secondary Berth are 99% complete, with substation foundation works and construction of the rock revetment works well in progress, the company said.

In spite of the stepped up activity level, the project continues to keep an impressive safety record. To date, the project has clocked over 11 million man-hours without a Loss Time Injury, SLNG said.
