Sirius Petroleum elects new COO to spearhead Ororo ops

Sirius Petroleum, a company focused on oil and gas exploration and development opportunities in Nigeria, has appointed Peter Gregory as its new chief operating officer (COO).

Sirius said on Wednesday that Gregory’s primary responsibility would be operational areas regarding the Ororo field and that he would report directly to Bobo Kuti, the CEO of the company.

According to the company, Gregory’s career spans over 40 years of continuous service in drilling and operations in the oil and gas sector, holding senior operational drilling roles with several companies including Lasmo, Premier Oil, and BG Group.

Over the last ten years, he held senior roles on projects around the world such as drilling engineering and management positions and as a head of drilling for three independent international oil companies.

Sirius added that Gregory has considerable experience operating in West Africa having been involved in projects where he performed a lead role over many years.

Bobo Kuti, CEO of Sirius, said: “We are very pleased to have recruited someone of Peter’s experience and ability as COO to head-up the drilling and operational side of the company’s Ororo project.”

The Ororo field, discovered in 1986, is located within OML 95 in shallow waters offshore Ondo State, Nigeria.

It is operated by Guarantee Petroleum (55% interest) with Owena Oil & Gas as its partner (45%). Sirius Petroleum acts as the technical and financing partner in the development of the field.

Sirius recently announced that a seismic vessel would begin a seabed survey around the field in early April ahead of COSL’s drilling rig mobilization.
