South Dunes power plant approval recommended

The Oregon Department of Energy issued draft proposed order on Jordan Cove Energy’s application for site certificate for the proposed South Dunes power plant.

According to the ODOE’s order, the facility located in Coos County, Oregon will be a 420-megawat natural gas-fueled power plant that will provide electricity to the proposed Jordan Cove LNG export terminal.

The Oregon Department of Energy also said the power plant is the only component of the proposed LNG export project that does not fall under the FERC jurisdiction.

ODOE informed that the public hearing on this draft proposed order and the application will be held on June 25, 2015, which is also the closing date of the public comment period.
