South Korea: KEPCO to Complete Link Between Jeju and Jindo in April

Korea Electronic Power Corporation (KEPCO) announces that it expects to complete its second high-voltage direct current (HVDC) project in April, after five years of construction.

The HVDC project will comprise 122 kilometers of submarine cable which will link Jeju and Jindo in South Jeolla Province.

After being set in motion, this second HVDC will have the capacity of 250,000 kilowatts incorporating two power transmission cables.

Furthermore, the HVDC will allow Jeju-generated electricity to reach the mainland, which afterwards will be utilized as infrastructure for the new power generation assignments.

KEPCO Jeju will be able to strengthen Jeju’s electricity desire which is greatly raising due to tourism development projects.
