South Korea: March LNG Imports Slide

South Korea imported 3.49 million tonnes of LNG in March, down 7.3% from the same month in 2011 when the country purchased 3.77 million tonnes of LNG, customs data showed.

The country’s LNG imports rose 50% in February to 4.66 million tonnes of LNG, compared to the year before.

The LNG cargoes in March were shipped from Malaysia, Oman, Yemen, Brunei, Trinidad and Tobago, Russia, Nigeria and Egypt.

South Korea’s KOGAS, the world’s largest corporate buyer of liquefied natural gas, said that it plans to import about 36,46 million tonnes of LNG this year.
