South Korea's Kogas Aug LNG sales rise 18.8 pct on year

South Korean state-owned Korea Gas Corp’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales rose 18.8 percent year-on-year in August.

Kogas sold 2.36 million tonnes last month, from 1.93 million tonnes a year earlier, the world’s second-largest buyer of LNG said in a regulatory filing.

Of the total sales in August, LNG sales to the power generation sector rose 25 percent to 1.37 million tons in 2018 from 1.09 million tons in 2017.

City gas sales reached 0.93 million tons in the month under review, 10.7 percent above the 0.84 million tons in the corresponding month of 2017.

Kogas operates in total 72 LNG storage tanks in South Korea. It imports about 96 percent of Korea’s LNG demand via its four terminals, namely Incheon, Pyeongtaek, Tongyeong and Samcheok.
