South Korea’s March LNG imports drop 25.9 pct

South Korea, the world’s second-largest buyer of LNG, imported 3.05 million tonnes of LNG in March, down 25.9 percent from the same month in 2014.

The country’s imports of the chilled gas in the first quarter of 2015 dropped 20.2 percent to 10.18 million tonnes, as compared to the same period a year ago, customs data shows.

Most of the LNG imports in March came from Qatar (1.2 million mt), down 52. 6 percent as compared to March in 2014.

The average price of LNG also dropped 20.7 percent in March to $678.52/mt ($13.05/MMBtu).
