Spasatel Kavdejkin MPSV Starts Sea Trials (Russia)

On June 28th, 2013, the second in a series multipurpose salvage vessel “Spasatel Kavdejkin” set off on builder’s sea trials.

The vessel, which has the capacity of 4 MW, is being built at Nevsky Shipyard. The project MPSV07 is developed by Marine Engineering Bureau-Design-SPb, JSC.

The multipurpose salvage vessel is intended for carrying out of the following works:

• stand by, rescue operation in areas of shipping, fishing, marine oil and gas fields;

• providing technical support and assistance in dangerous for shipping, sea foods production areas, servicing of transport operations in ports;

• search and assistance to vessels in distress;

• search, rescue, evacuation and accommodation of survivors, provision of first aid to injured persons;

• refloat from ground and reef of damaged vessels, pumping out water from flooded compartments;

• towing of damaged vessels and objects to shelter area, and also providing sea towing of vessels, floating objects and structures in ice conditions and at open water;

• providing assistance to vessels and rescue operations in ice conditions and at open water;

• providing fire fighting at floating and coastal objects accessible from sea;

• supply and logistic support, including performing underwater engineering operations with divers at depth up to 60 m;

• performance of deep-water diving engineering operations with an opportunity of long stay of divers under pressure with working depth up to 300 meters;

• fire fighting of burning on water fuel, oil and oil product spills emergency response service;

• survey and underwater hull cleaning of vessels, floating and coastal objects;

• inspection of a sea-bottom and damaged objects on depths down to 1000 m.

Nevsky Shipyard, LLC is located 40 km away from Saint-Petersburg in the town of Schliesselburg on the left bank of the river Neva. The Shipyard is one of the oldest enterprises of water transport in the northwest of Russia which started its shipbuilding activity since 1952. Nowadays the Shipyard builds sea and river vessels of various types and purposes and carries out all kinds of ship repair works. The slipway for vessels rising allows to launch and lift for repairs the vessels up to 140 meters long and dock weight up to 3000 tons.
