Spotted: Harmony of the Seas Nears Debut

Scheduled to debut in April 2016, Royal Caribbean’s third Oasis-class vessel Harmony of the Seas is coming together at STX France shipyard in Saint-Nazaire.

The ship will be the first in a new generation of ships where architectural innovations of the Oasis class are combined with technologies of the Quantum class.

For her inaugural summer season the vessel will sail the Western Mediterranean from Barcelona, Spain, before she arrives at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in November 2016 from where she will sail the Caribbean.

Harmony, the third Oasis-class vessel behind Oasis and Allure of the Seas, will be slightly bigger than her sister vessels, making her the largest cruise ship in the world.

The vessel’s exterior construction was completed at the shipyard in June this year, at which point interior construction works started.

Harmony of the Seas, towering 16 decks above the ocean, will have the capacity of a record 5,479 passengers. The vessel will have a gross tonnage of 226,000, a length of 1,187 feet and maximum cruising speed of 23 knots.
