SPT Completes Fracturing Operation for PetroChina’s Shale Gas Well

SPT Energy Group announced that it has completed a staged fracturing service operation for PetroChina’s Third Shale Gas Well by the end of April and that it has been successful in identifying reserve flows of industrial oil and gas.

This staged fracturing operation has not only validated the indicated capacity of horizontal wells in the target shale bed, but has also established the applicable ancillary technologies for horizontal well completion, and a data backing for evaluation of the puberty and oil and gas concentration of that shale bed. Moreover, it has brought together valuable technical strengths and experiences to exploration and development into unconventional oil and gas resources in China, including shale gas.

Distinguished from conventional oil and gas resources exploration and development technologies which are entering a maturing stage, in this recent staged fracturing operation for horizontal shale gas bed, SPT went through a comprehensive research process and adapted theoretical knowledge and technical practices of similar large-scale shale gas development projects in North America to help PetroChina identify details of the shale bed in the area, in an effort to maximize production from a single well. Moreover, with the underground micro-seismic fracture real-time monitoring technologies, SPT tracked directions and trajectories of the cracks in a timely manner, and effected prompt adjustments to parameters of the fracturing operation design to ensure that the operation could be completed smoothly.
