Squid Tackles Rough Seas (VIDEO)
Last week’s ‘weatherbomb’ created large waves, particularly in the north and west of Scotland, where WaveNET ‘Squid’ unit was under test at Kishorn Port in Wester Ross.
Roslin-based company, Albatern, developed a device that harnesses wave energy. It comprises a hollow central riser tube connected to 3 buoyancy floats by linking arms. The connections between each of these components is made by 6 identical fully articulated pumping modules.
According to the company, the unit responded accordingly in the stormy weather.
