Statoil, E.ON, Vattenfall, Dong Prequalified to Bid for Horns Rev 3
The Danish Energy Egency (DEA) has decided to prequalify Statoil ASA , E.ON Wind Europe AB, Vattenfall Wind Power A / S and DONG Energy Wind Power A/S for the tender of the Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm.
This means that all four applicants for prequalification have been selected to submit a first indicative offer for the concession contract where price is the only criteria.
Morten Bæk, the CEO of the Danish Energy Agency, said:
“The Danish Energy Agency today is prequalifying a range of both known and new players in the Danish wind power market. The outcome is highly satisfactory considering both the number and profile of the prequalified applicants. It is difficult to imagine a more competitive field in today’s market. Strong competition is the key to lowering the costs for offshore wind energy.”
Horns Rev 3 is the first concession to be tendered for on the basis of the Energy Agreement from 2012. In comparison, the last Danish tender for the Anholt offshore wind farm in 2010 only attracted one bidder.
With the aim of securing the highest level of competition, the Danish Energy Agency has been involved in a technical dialogue with potential bidders for more than one year. This dialogue has helped raise attention for the Danish projects in the international market place.
