Statoil’s Hammerfest LNG terminal back online

Statoil of Norway said that production from its Hammerfest liquefied natural gas plant has been resumed after a gas leak last Monday, Reuters informs.

The Hammerfest LNG plant, on the island of Melkøya, was shut down due to a gas leak in the processing facility.

The Arctic gas from the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea is sent ashore through a 143-kilometre-long pipeline to the LNG export facility, and it is processed before being cooled down to liquid form and shipped on tankers to customers around the world.
