Statoil's Johan Sverdup Appraisal Well Confirms 14m Oil Column (Norway)

Norway’s oil giant Statoil has, by basic wireline logging, confirmed a 14 meter oil column in well 16/5-3, located in PL 502 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The well is being drilled in the southern extension of the Johan Sverdrup area. Logging in the reservoir section is still in an initial phase and coring of the reservoir will be made in a sidetrack well immediately following logging operations. Final results are thus not yet available.

The well was drilled with the Ocean Vanguard semi-submersible drilling rig in a water depth of 108 meters.

Statoil operates the PL 502  with 44.44 % interest. Petoro and Det norske are partners with 33.33 percent and 22.22 percent, respectively.
