Statoil's Lupin Well Comes Up Dry (Norway)

Statoil has informed its partners that drilling of the exploration well on the Lupin prospect in licence PL360 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea is about to be completed. The well has not encountered hydrocarbons.

Further operations in the area will focus on prospectivity in Upper and Middle Jurassic, which has become more attractive following recent discoveries in the area. The well is being drilled with the Songa Trym semi-submersible drilling rig.

The other licensees are Dong E&P Norge AS with 20 per cent, Noreco Norway AS with 15 per cent and Wintershall Norge AS with 15 per cent.
