Summit in Istanbul to Analyze LNG Potential

Summit in Istanbul to Analyze CNG, LNG Potential

Energy Information Administration (EIA) states that in 2009 in the USA, natural gas accounted for 76% of the residential and commercial sectors’ energy needs, 40% of the industrial sector’s energy needs, 18% of electricity generation and 3% of the transportation sector’s energy needs. Natural gas with roughly half the carbon dioxide emissions as other fossil fuels is one of the cleaner alternatives.

With rapid market developments and ever changing consumer needs companies are always on the lookout for new technologies. Global acceptance of LNG and CNG has opened new arenas for the gas industry. Fleming Gulf will be organizing Global Gas Opportunities Summit in Istanbul, Turkey from 1-3 October to effectively analyze the potential LNG holds.

Nuno Afonso Moreira, Chairman, Board member of Sonorgas – IGU Gas Utilization, will be presenting at the summit on small scale LNG projects, its feasibility and development of transportation and infrastructure modes. During the last 15 years Moreira has been involved in the development of the gas industry in Portugal, and he has made a strong contribution on the Portuguese gas legal framework. Moreira is involved in IGU activities and is now the chairman of the Working Committee 5.1 – Gas Industrial Utilization, where he leads a group of experts, reporting the promotion of the use of gas in industrial processes in the world.

Advancements in the usage of LNG as a fuel will also be discussed with respect to technology and transport. After the presentation there will be a questions and answers session wherein the delegates will get an opportunity to raise their questions to the speakers. Presentations on the technological advancements for using LNG as a fuel, designing efficient gas networks, alternative sources of clean energy and managing pipeline integrity through proactive & effective repair strategies will be covered at the three day summit. Speakers at the summit will be representing organizations like TAQA Arabia, National Gas Company SAOG, Emirates Gas LLC, Petronas, Cedigaz, Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) and Eustream.

Panel discussions on developments in the gas industry worldwide; infrastructure investment: analysis and opportunities and gas pricing, contracting and subsidization will be held at the summit along with three case studies and two workshops on the final day. The summit will be an opportunity for the attendees to learn how natural gas will influence the future and the growth of the global gas industry.
