Sweden to House Refugees on Water

Asylum seekers could be sent to live on passenger vessels and accommodation platforms, according to Swedish Migration Agency.

In an attempt to cope with a record number of asylum seekers, the Swedish agency is considering to house refugees on water and has therefore issued a tender for suppliers of passenger vessels and accommodation platforms.

The agency’s expectation is to attract several thousand new places for the refugees, which could open in the first quarter of 2016 or earlier.

The tender was released on November 23 and will close on December 3.
