The sailor, an Indian national, suffered two stab wounds to his chest and was transferred by helicopter to hospital after receiving first aid onboard. Reports indicate that the man is currently in a stable condition.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.

STI Guard was on its way to Singapore but it was rerouted to Reunion Island following the incident. On February 6, the crude oil tanker docked at Port Louis Anchorage, Mauritius.
