Nasdaq-listed tanker shipping company Teekay Tankers has entered into an agreement to dispose of two of its 159,500 dwt tankers, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

The two vessels, the LR2 tanker Ganges Spirit and the Suezmax tanker Yamuna Spirit, were sold to Greece-based shipowner New Shipping Ltd.

VesselsValue said that the 2002-built tankers were sold for a price of USD 16.2 million each.

The vessels, constructed by South Korea’s shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries, have a market value of USD 18.1 million a piece.

Earlier in October, Teekay Tankers decided to exit the MR2 tanker sector as sold its final MR2 chemical tanker Hugli Spirit for USD 13 million to Norway’s Champion Tankers AS.

The 46,900 dwt vessel, which features a length of 183 meters and a width of 32 meters, was part of the company’s fleet of 47 vessels.
