Texas LNG receives DOE’s export approval

United States Department of Energy issued an order granting long-term, multi-contract authorization to Texas LNG, to export liquefied natural gas from the proposed facility at the Port of Brownsville.

Texas LNG is authorized to export approximately 204.4 Bcf/yr of natural gas for a 25-year term to free trade agreement countries, DOE said in its order.

The LNG project will be developed as a tolling facility to process treated pipeline natural gas sourced from the U.S. natural gas pipeline network into LNG for export to FTA and non-FTA markets.

Texas LNG will have a planned capacity to produce up to 2 mtpa of liquefied natural gas with first production expected in early 2020.

Samsung Engineering, that will take a minority interest in the project has completed the conceptual study and preliminary engineering (pre-FEED) engineering and began detailed front end engineering (FEED) in November 2014.
