Under the agreement, Tohoku will be purchasing up to 200,000 tons of LNG annually on a delivered ex ship (DES) basis from the Sempra-led Cameron LNG project in Hackberry, Louisiana.

Tohoku said in its statement that the contract has an 18-year term starting in 2022.

The agreement is in line with the company’s push to diversify its liquefied natural gas procurement sources.

The company further added that the contract does not include any destination restrictions which will allow it to change the destination of the LNG cargoes and resell it to third parties in cooperation with Diamond Gas.
