Tokyo Gas December Sales Up 4.6 Percent

Total gas sales volume by Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., for the month of December 2011 came to about 1,194.120 million m3, increased by 52.374 million m3 (+4.6%) from December 2010.

In the residential sector, volume totaled 333.273 million m3, up 1.7% from December 2010, owing to the increased demand for water heating and space heating due to lower average temperature than the year-earlier month.

In the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use), the volume was 202.879 million m3, almost equal (+0.2%) to the volume in December 2010.

In the industrial sector, volume totaled about 455.359 million m3, up 9.9% from last year due to higher operation rate of existing customers’ facilities, etc.

Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled about 202.609 million m3, up 2.7% from December 2010 due to increased demand of wholesale gas suppliers.

The total gas sales volume for the cumulative period of April to December 2011 was 9,370.814 million m3, down by 1.2%.
