Tokyo Gas to add second Hitachi LNG tank

Tokyo Gas of Japan said it will add a second liquefied natural gas tank at its Hitachi LNG import terminal in Ibaraki Prefecture.

The construction on the 230,000 kl LNG tank will start in 2018, and it is to be completed by March 2021, Tokyo Gas said in a statement on Thursday. Start-up of operations at the Hitachi LNG terminal is expected in March 2016.

Japan’s largest gas utility also revealed it plans to invest a total of 765.2 billion yen in its facilities over FY2015 – FY2019.

These include the further reinforcement of stable production systems through construction of the Hitachi LNG terminal expansions of the LNG-related facilities in the three terminals on Tokyo Bay, and construction of the Onahama Satellite, the company added.
