Tokyo Gas unloads first cargo at Hitachi LNG terminal

Japan’s Tokyo Gas informed that it has recently received the first cargo of liquefied natural gas at its Hitachi LNG terminal currently under construction in Ibaraki Prefecture.

According to the company’s statement, the cargo used for testing purposes was delivered from Petronas’ LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia onboard the 153,000 cbm Energy Confidence.

Tokyo Gas added that flaring at the terminal commenced at the end of November and will is scheduled to run through January 2016.

Japan’s largest utility added that the terminal is set to commence commercial operations in March 2016.
