Salvage Operation Planned for MOL Comfort

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced in the official statement that the company has contracted a salvage company to recover the two MOL Comfort’s hull parts, after the containerships’ hull was split into two on June 17 during heavy weather while the vessel was en route to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

MOL Comfort’s Aft Part Sinks in the Arabian Sea

MOL released an urgent update reporting that the aft part of the containership MOL Comfort sank in the open sea near 14’26”N 66’26”E (water depth about 4,000m) at 16:48 JST (11:48 Dubai time) on June 27.

Collision between ‘NOCC Oceanic’ and ‘Yujin Maru no. 7′ Confirmed

orwegian Car Carriers ASA (NOCC) today released an update regarding the accident that occurred on Sunday, June 23 involving the fishing vessel “Yujin Maru no. 7″ and “NOCC Oceanic”, confirming that NOCC Oceanic was involved in the collision according to a Japanese Coast Guard’s report.

Damen Introduces Arctic Modular Towing Supply Vessel Concept (GALLERY)

Last February, five Maritime Engineering bachelor students of the Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands) finished their Minor on Arctic Engineering. In cooperation with Damen Shipyards Group and other partners this project has now resulted, amongst others, in a new Arctic vessel: the Damen AMTSV (Arctic Modular Towing Supply Vessel).

COSL Orders 15 Offshore Vessels

On June 19, 2013, China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) signed agreements for the construction of 15 vessels.
