Total to Use Borgland Dolphin for Drilling near Heimdal

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted consent to Total E&P Norge AS has for use of the mobile facility Borgland Dolphin for drilling and completion of a production well in production licence 102 C.

Total E&P Norge AS has been given approveal  for use of Borgland Dolphin for drilling of production well 25/5-D-1 H. The well will be drilled as a sidetrack to a previously drilled exploration well in a prospect located between the fields Byggve (in production) and Frøy (shut down) in production licence 102C.

The well is located 22 km east of Heimdal gas field, and sea depth at the site is approx. 119 metres.

The drilling is scheduled to start in the period February to April, and has an anticipated duration of approx. 45 days.

Borgland Dolphin is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility of the Aker H-3 type. It was built at Harland & Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1977 and underwent comprehensive upgrades in 1999. The facility is owned by Borgland Dolphin Pte Ltd and operated by Dolphin Drilling A/S. The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in September 2004.
