Trelleborg Boosts GoM Buoyancy Repair with ExPert Riser

Louisiana-based ExPert Riser Solutions has become an authorized repair center for Trelleborg’s offshore operation, expanding its drill riser buoyancy module (DRBM) repair offering.

Through this partnership with ExPert Riser, Trelleborg said it has upgraded its capability as the sole DRBM supplier offering certified third-party repair services with in-house production standards.

Trelleborg’s customers will now be able to have their buoyancy repaired at ExPert Riser’s Port Fourchon, Louisiana location with access to the Gulf of Mexico.

William von Eberstein, CEO at Expert Riser, says: “It is critical that damaged modules be assessed, repaired and returned to site as quickly as possible. ExPert Riser’s experienced personnel coupled with its prime location on 52 acres in Port Fourchon allow for that repair process to be achieved. By collaborating with Trelleborg, we can restore damaged buoyancy using OEM approved processes, materials and standards. We are pleased to enter into this partnership with Trelleborg and are pleased to be certified as an authorized repair center.”

Alan McBride, vice president drilling and syntactic products for Trelleborg’s offshore operation, says: “We pride ourselves on delivering a truly end-to-end service to our customers and this is a further step in supporting our customers through lifecycle management. As proactive business partners, we strive to add value through after sales services, including local buoyancy repair. We endeavor to enhance the business performance and competitiveness of our customers and are delighted to offer this service through our partnership with Expert Riser.”

DRBMs are installed to reduce a drilling riser’s net weight in water, and ensure that the structure and drilling vessel are supported.
