Trinidad gas leak causes confusion over LNG plant’s shutdown

Natural gas pipeline leak caused confusion over a reported shutdown of Trinidad and Tobago LNG plant.

Energy minister Kevin Ramnarine said that the Atlantic LNG facility had been shut down due to a gas leak in a gas pipeline supplying the plant, but as a company official told Argus, all four trains are running as normal.

The leak occurred on a 56-inch cross-island pipeline and Ramnarine said that the state-run company NGC was repairing the leak, but did not indicate how log it would take.

Atlantic LNG official added that the facility has other gas delivery lines, pointing out that this leak did not cause any interruptions in facility’s operations.
